Georgia EPD Urges Continued Water Conservation
Non-drought Outdoor Water Use Schedule
The Georgia Water Stewardship Act went into effect statewide on June 2, 2010.
During installation and for 30 days after installation is complete, newly planted lawns, turf, ground cover, flowers, shrubs, trees and other plants can be watered ANY DAY, at ANY TIME.
For established plantings, watering is allowed as needed all days of the week, after 4 pm and before 10 am to plant, grow, manage and maintain lawns and turf, ground cover, flowers, shrubs, trees and other plants, using these methods of application:

- Automated irrigation systems
- Hand watering (without a shut-off nozzle)
- Lawn sprinklers
- See exemptions listed below for exemptions to any declared drought level rules.
During ALL drought level declarations, these uses are allowed any day needed, at any time of day. Please consider whether it has rained and don't use supplemental watering or irrigation if it is unnecessary!

- Commercial pressure washing
- Drip irrigation or soaker hose
- Food gardens
- Hand watering (with a shut-off nozzle)
- Hydroseeding
- Installation and maintenance of an irrigation system
- Irrigation of public recreational turf areas
- Irrigation of plants for sale
- Irrigation of sports fields
- Water from private wells and bodies of water on property
- Water from an alternate source (grey water, rain water, air-conditioner condensate)
